Scholarships and Business Grants

The Light Ahead Scholarship

For students pursuing higher education.

What we fund

Up to $2,500 per recipient, applied toward tuition, books, supplies, technology, or other qualified educational expenses.

Who can apply

  • High school seniors and current college or graduate students (ages 16–25)

  • U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • Demonstrated involvement in school, community, or volunteer activities

  • Preference given to: Cambodian-American students, students from refugee or first-generation immigrant backgrounds, and students from communities that are historically underrepresented in higher education

What we ask for

  1. A completed application form (link below)

  2. A copy of your most recent school transcript (unofficial is fine)

  3. One photo of yourself

  4. An essay answering this question: "How will this scholarship help me be a light for others?" — Tell us about your community, your story, and the impact you hope to make.

  5. One letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, employer, or community leader

Program Terms: The LAM Family Foundation awards funds on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis. Family members of officers, directors, or contributors are not eligible. Scholarship recipients are responsible for determining the taxability of funds used for non-qualified expenses (such as room and board). Business grant recipients must provide documentation of proper use of funds for charitable or educational purposes.
