Scholarships and Business Grants

The Light Ahead Movement Scholarships

Eligibility

  • Open to middle school, high school, and college students.

  • Relatives of officers, directors, or employees of The LAM Family Foundation are not eligible to apply.

  • Include a photo of yourself

  • Must maintain a minimum GPA (e.g., 3.0 or higher)

    • Submit school transcript

  • Show involvement in school, community, or volunteer activities.

  • Write an essay or create a video answering:
    “How will this scholarship help me be a light for others?” Focus on the impact to the communities around you.

    Award Amounts

    • Up to $2,500 can be used for tuition, books, supplies, or other educational needs. (Note: Scholarship funds used for room, board, or travel may be considered taxable income by the IRS.)

    • Selection Process: Applications are reviewed by an independent selection committee to ensure an objective and nondiscriminatory selection process.

Program Terms: The LAM Family Foundation awards funds on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis. Family members of officers, directors, or contributors are not eligible. To support entrepreneurs and small business owners who are ready to grow their ideas and make a positive impact in their communities.

Eligibility

  • Open to early-stage entrepreneurs or small business owners.

  • Relatives of officers, directors, or employees of The LAM Family Foundation are not eligible to apply.

  • Recipients must agree to submit a follow-up report documenting how funds were used to benefit the community.

  • Include a photo of yourself and your business

  • Must submit a business idea or growth plan (1–3 pages).

  • Must share a personal story:
    “How will my business be a light in my community?” Focus on the impact to the community and the people around you.

  • Show commitment to giving back through mentorship, training, or community service.

    Award Amounts

    • Up to $2,500 funds can be used for startup costs, equipment, marketing, or training. (Note: Business grant awards are generally considered taxable income. Please consult a tax professional.)
