From youth to seasoned leaders, our Ambassadors shine as beacons of light, reminding us that everyone has the power to create change

Meet Leth Oun - Ambassador

Leth Oun’s life is a powerful testament to resilience, perseverance, and the hope that light can break through even the darkest of times. A survivor of the Cambodian Killing Fields, Leth endured unimaginable hardship before immigrating to the United States, where he built a new life founded on hard work and faith in possibility.

Today, Leth is a respected author, advocate, and leader. In his memoir, A Refugee’s American Dream, he shares his journey of survival and renewal, inspiring readers around the world to rise above their circumstances and pursue their dreams.

As an Ambassador for The Light Ahead Movement, Leth embodies the core values of our foundation: courage, dignity, and the belief that no one should be left without guidance on their path forward. His story reminds us that every person, regardless of where they begin, has the potential to achieve greatness and to be a light for others.

“No matter how dark the past, there is always light ahead if you keep moving forward.” – Leth Oun

At just 10 years old, Amelia is already showing what it means to be a leader. A dedicated student, she works hard in school and brings that same energy to her role as Youth Ambassador for The Light Ahead Movement.

Amelia loves learning and exploring new activities. Whether she’s on the golf course, horseback riding, or traveling with her family, she approaches everything with curiosity and joy. While Disneyland is her favorite place to visit for fun, her favorite city is New York — a place that inspires her big dreams for the future.

Her story is also shaped by her family’s legacy. Her father is a survivor of the Cambodian Genocide, also known as the Killing Fields, and her mother was born in Korea and adopted by an American family. From both sides of her family, Amelia has inherited resilience, strength, and a deep appreciation for opportunity.

As a Youth Ambassador, Amelia reminds us that leadership doesn’t wait for adulthood. She shows her peers the power of kindness, hard work, and service to the community.

“I want to help people believe in themselves and know they can always move forward.” – Amelia
